Our lectionary guides us to Psalm 1. May we not forget that while comparing ourselves against the poles of wickedness and righteousness, that Christ is the measure counted in our favor by faith. Therefore, we have every reason to rejoice!

Psalm 23 is our focus in the lectionary today. In it we rejoice with David that our Lord is a Shepherd who provides all our needs, is with us even in the most dire situations, and invites us into his loving presence for eternity. What an amazing God we serve!

Yesterday, I presided at the funeral of Franklin “Bud” Edmunds, a long time member of St Francis in the Fields. The lessons were Isaiah 61:1-3, Psalm 23 (KJV), 1 Thessalonians 4:13-15, & John 6:37-40. May we all walk this pilgrim life in the hope of the resurrection.
