On this Sixth Sunday in Easter, how do truly get to know Jesus and live a life of love? The gift of the Holy Spirit!
Progressing through Eastertide, our Gospel lesson brings us face to face with Jesus with a couple disciples heading to Emmaus, who then discover our Risen Lord in Scripture and the Breaking of Bread. May we find Jesus in the Bible, his table, and our own tables as well.
On this last Sunday before Lent, the lectionary lessons remind us that Christ, the New Lawgiver, is the center of God’s revelation and plan to save the cosmos. In other words, it’s not about “me;” it’s all about Jesus.
With 3 feet of the snow on the ground, Holy Communion was not an option this morning. So here is a short service of Morning Prayer with Sermon and a little bit of music. Many thanks to my wife, Kelly, for her assistance with the readings. I used the Eucharistic readings which can be found here. (Please excuse my flub during the last hymn when I had sudden dry eye and everything went blurry while I was singing.) May you find the prospect of God speaking to you in nature and Scripture so exciting that you are energized on your spiritual journey.
