As we begin this season of penitent preparation for the coming of our Lord, the lectionary bring St Paul’s salutation tot he Corinthian church to our attention. In so doing, we are admonished with ways by which we can wait with strength for the promises of God.
On this Laetare Sunday, we rejoice over the lessons that describe our Lord as a Divine Shepherd of Light. May we all find reason to be glad in someone who can enlighten us, guide, and free us from sin and death!
As St Paul moves into chapter 3 in his letter to the Colossians, he gives us concrete advice how to be both heavenly minded and earthly good. May we all find his advice to look up to Christ, look in to deal with our sin, and look out with love to both God and neighbor to be not only practical, but also life-changing!
